Evaluation of the anthelmintic property of the endophytic extract of <em>Senna alata</em> in mice model

Background: Senna alata belongs to the family, Fabaceae, which is widely distributed in humid and tropical regions of world. It has been ethnobotanically used management diabetes, asthma, typhoid, malaria, worm infestation (ringworms, tinea infections), scabies, skin dermatitis such as eczema, blotch, herpes. Hence, it important quantify pharmacological properties plant, especially infestations. Objectives: In this study, endophytic extract was evaluated for its antihelmintic mice. Method: The leaves were obtained Ufuma Orumba North Anambra state, treated with 70% ethanol 3 minutes. Malt agar prepared transferred into several sterilized Petri dishes, allowed solidify, before inoculation. Local rice fermentation conical flasks by weighing 100g each flask mixing 200ml water. At end 3-day homogenization, mixtures decanted sterile beakers. filtrate then concentrated exposing them room temperature 5-7 days. extracts stored at 25 oC further use. anthelmintic activity performed according method followed Shelke et al., 2020, albendazole standard drug. Result: showed that paralyzed worms same time Albendazole did more effective higher concentrations 50mg/ml. Conclusion: This plant possesses potent a dose-dependent manner, may prove useful cost-effective safe alternative.
